This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Koning invites you to get personal with us. Breast cancer touches so many lives, and many of those moments are bound to stay with us. Whether experienced personally or through a loved one, we may remember the moment the disease was diagnosed, the side effects of treatment, breaking the news for the first time. We may feel scared, yet survive. We may fight, yet be forced to say goodbye. Each story has meaning and a lesson to teach, no pain goes to waste.
Our spokeswoman, Allyn Rose, is a breast cancer awareness advocate, public speaker, and former Miss USA. She is vocal about how she lost her mother to breast cancer at just 16 years old. “This was a very defining moment in my life as a young woman growing into my own womanhood,” Allyn explains. “Suddenly having to go on the rest of my life without my mom was an aggressive wake-up call to take this more seriously. It was not just my mother, I had this long lineage of women who had lost their lives to breast cancer at a really young age and it encouraged me to decide to have a double mastectomy in my twenties.”
Having access to our Vera by Koning Breast CT device at a diagnostic center would have likely made a difference in the life of Allyn’s mother, as the painful compression of mammograms deterred her from getting her annual exams. With real women’s concerns in mind, Koning is determined to change the traditional timeline of prevention, one exam at a time.
